Storytelling for self-discovery
F.U.E.L.
Finding the deeper threads and symbols that shape the story of who we are. Understanding how we’re mirrored in the eyes—and stories—of others. Embracing our essence, our contradictions, our voice. Letting go of expressions that belong to an earlier version of ourselves.
F.U.E.L. is an eight-class experiential workshop designed to spark creativity, deepen self-awareness, and build emotional literacy through the language of audiovisual storytelling. Each session offers a safe, sensory-rich space where participants can explore their personal narratives, deepen self-awareness, and build authentic connections. Through guided exercises inspired by the tools of film and visual storytelling, participants learn to observe, question, and transform lived experiences into meaningful stories. The shift from passively living our stories to actively shaping them becomes a catalyst for both personal reflection and collective growth.
As a documentary maker, for the past 15 years Virginija have been immersed in the stories of individuals facing challenging circumstances. She has transformed this accumulated knowledge into a tool for a creative and experimental self-reflection and growth of people who seek new ways to think about their lives.
Every class is 90 min long. The workshop can work as a whole package, but also as a combination of classes (3 or 6 hour long) depending on the needs of the participants. If you’re interested in learning more or bringing F.U.E.L. to your community, please get in touch.
F.U.E.L. at National Art Gallery, Vilnius
F.U.E.L. was recently adapted for participants from migrant and refugee backgrounds and held in a contemporary art gallery, where the space and artworks became active elements in the storytelling process.
Participants engaged with visual art while exploring their own narratives, turning the gallery into a space of reflection, connection, and creative expression. This version of F.U.E.L. highlights the workshop’s versatility and its ability to meet people where they are—emotionally, culturally, and geographically—using storytelling as a tool for agency and discovery. The workshop at the National Art Gallery was supported by the Ministry of Culture of Lithuania.
